Bruschetta Chicken over Spaghetti Squash; Gluten free, dairy free, soy free, nut free recipe

Chicken Bruschetta (1)-2

We're in the middle of the most hyped snow storm I can remember in Michigan - school was cancelled before the snow started yesterday and we, owning a construction company, scrambled to get a tarp over a house that we ripped the second story off this week (don't worry, we own the place) and determined that today would be a snow day for our business also. The snow started this morning (Friday AM) and will continue through Sunday - they say we'll get 9" today alone! I made the unfortunate mistake … [Read more...]

High Dose Vitamin C – Does it work to cure a cold?

I just looked outside and it's SNOWING....yes, SNOWING! Why does it seem like it always snows on Halloween? Last week it was seriously in the 60s! So, it's Halloween morning. My son is sleeping in the room next to me, I'm writing and recovering from a cold. It seems like I've been getting colds non-stop lately. Actually, it doesn't just seem like it, I have..... I had one in early August, late September and now, late October. We went to the apple orchard on Sunday with Little Man and the … [Read more...]

Chicken, Tomatillo, Bean Chili - Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free Nut Free Recipe

Well, you can congratulate me :) I got through the entire summer without posting any new healthy recipes! IIn my mind I have hopes that this delicious Chicken Tomatillo Chili will be the first of a few this fall but my track record is not that great! I have been sooooo busy, and because I've been busy, I haven't been experimenting in the kitchen much and have been "cheating" a lot.  My household is always gluten free, dairy free (we I am at least), soy free, and nut free - even when we're busy … [Read more...]

Changing a Toddlers Diet for Better Dental Health

Changing Toddlers Diet Dental

I haven't been posting much the last year or so because my husband and my business has taken off and it, and managing it, along with a very active 3 year old, keeps me pretty busy. Today on a whim, I decided to take a look at the blog traffic and noticed that it was 1/10th of what it once was - boo! No new content means no new or returning readers.  I'm going to try and change that! During my little hiatus, most of me and my families diets have stayed the same, some things have changed. I have … [Read more...]

Leek and Cauliflower Soup

Leek and Cauliflower Soup (4)

This soup is so light and flavorful. It's great as a starter, a snack, paired with a salad for a light lunch, etc. It freezes perfectly! I freeze mine in pint sizes mason jars for single sized portions that I can reheat quickly on the stove. We've has quite the week here at our house....I'll spare you the details but will tell you, we were all pretty under the weather (I actually think this is the first time in our 10 years that my husband has had a fever).  After a week like that I'm left with … [Read more...]

It has been absolutely FOREVER since I last posted and we're now to the point of the year where it gets really hard to get good photos of the food I'm making for dinner because it's dark at like 5pm - booo! However, because I haven't posted at all during the summer I have a whole folder full of the fresh, healthy, gluten, dairy, soy and nut free meals that I made, photographed and LOVED throughout the sunny months.  First up, this Crock Pot Hawaiian Shredded Pork, it is delicious over rice, the … [Read more...]

1st Week of August GF, DF, SF, NF Whole Foods Meal Plan

Whenever I talk to people about being gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and nut free I get a ton of questions. Usually the first one is, "What do you eat?" Well, lots of stuff! With our garden and the farmer's market in full swing, I wanted to write a post with our menu from last week.  All of the recipes are gluten free, dairy free, soy free, and nut free. Most are egg free as well.  If you frequent the farmer's market you shouldn't have any trouble finding the fresh ingredients. I provide … [Read more...]

“Unrolled” Pork and Napa Cabbage Egg Rolls; Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free, Nut Free Recipe

Pork and Napa Cabbage Egg Rolls Unrolled (21)

Do you miss egg rolls? If you're gluten free,  dairy free, soy free, and nut free like me, there aren't many easy substitutes. I tried a rice paper egg roll and it was a disaster. We still ate it (and it tasted good) but you had to peel through a gooey layer of slimy rice paper that didnt really fry up. I was staring at this opened bottle of Sweet Ginger Chili by the Ginger People, that we ate with the failed egg rolls, in the fridge (this stuff is amazing!) And decided I needed to try again. … [Read more...]

Buttered Radishes with Parsley; Gluten Free, Soy Free, Nut Free Recipe

Buttered Radishes (1)

So, I was washing some radishes the other day and I looked out our back window to find 2 adult turkeys and six little ones.  I'm pretty sure it's two females and their babies but I'm not sure. Do they travel in packs?  I yelled to my little man to come over and look. I lifted him up onto the sink and we started discussing them.  "Look, a squirrel is with them" I said. "Yeah, a sqwirrel" said Little Man.  "They're so close, it's so weird" I said. "Awwww, so tcute turkeys" (that's how he … [Read more...]
