Crock Pot Red Wine Braised Beef Short Ribs; Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free, Nut Free Recipe

November 19, 2014 by Kristina 1 Comment

This is what I like to call a gourmet slow cooker meal. Gourmet and naturally gluten free, dairy free, soy free, nut free and egg free! I love my crock pot but if you use it you know that usually its best for soups, stews, and roasts, it's ok to use with chicken...and no one in their right mind would recommend you use it for something like filet mignon or scallops (at least I wouldn't). This recipe is actually in my recipe cards as "husband's favorite ribs". It is delicious in the summer when ...

November 14, 2014 by Kristina 2 Comments

I told you I was going to make pumpkin pie! Okay, I've been saying it since August - sorry! I figured it's now or wait another year so here's my second "Allergen Free Thanksgiving" post - my gluten free, soy free, dairy free, nut free pumpkin pie. This doesn't include the crust recipe. I'm sorry! I haven't found one that I love yet and keep resorting to store bought. If you have a great recipe feel free to post it below! I have a lot of pumpkin. This is a modification of the traditional ...

Cornbread Stuffing; Gluten free, Soy Free, Dairy Free, Nut Free, Egg Free Recipe

November 8, 2014 by Kristina 3 Comments

Omg thanksgiving is like three weeks away! Eek! I love halloween so much that my mind doesn't seem to venture past October 31st until it's gone. I also just saw someone post that Christmas is 7 weeks away...double eek! So much to do, so little time! So today I introduce my first allergy free Thanksgiving post. I'll try to get all of my recipes out here before the holiday. Whats the first thing that people miss at Thanksgiving when going gluten free? Stuffing (or dressing as some people call it). ...

Canning Apple Slices in Extra Light Syrup; Preserving the Harvest

November 6, 2014 by Kristina Leave a Comment

Every year we go to the apple orchard and pick WAY too many apples. I don't know why but I seem to only really love apples in the fall. Every other time of year they're just ok.  I've started wondering if that's because I can really only get the kind I love (Empire) from the orchards. Last year I decided that if I was going to preserve some of the apples to use in pies later in the year and see if it makes a difference.  Let me tell you, it totally does! I didn't have the time to can any apples ...

Apple Cider Glazed Pork Tenderloin with Roast Squash

October 28, 2014 by Kristina Leave a Comment

Two weeks ago I made this and told my dad about it.  Last week I decided I wanted to have him over for dinner and told him I was going to make a root vegetable pot roast. He said no....he wanted this :).  It's good enough to have once a week so that's fine with me! I love fall food! Apples, pork, squash, cider - this is the perfect autumn dinner. It will definitely be on the menu every year when the leaves start to change! It also happens to be naturally gluten free, soy free, dairy free, nut ...

Apple Fritter Pancakes with Cinnamon; Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free, Nut Free Recipe

October 19, 2014 by Kristina 3 Comments

The title makes these sound like they'd be really fattening and horrible for you doesn't it? Good news! All the flavor and texture of apple fritters but less sugar, less fat, no gluten, no dairy, no soy, no nuts :). These have only a tiny bit more sugar than my regular GF pancakes and they are great without the addition of maple syrup (so less sugar overall for us)! They are doughy on the inside, crispy around the edges, apple cinnamon-y goodness! They are the absolute perfect fall ...

Italian Chicken with Red Skin Potatoes and Green Beans

October 16, 2014 by Kristina Leave a Comment

I don't really cook many SUPER EASY dishes. "What!?" you say.  I know, I'm crazy right? Not really, most of the super easy dishes I used to make were full of gluten, dairy, soy and all kinds of preservatives and nasty stuff. Think, throw some rice in a baking dish. Top with chicken breasts and some type of jiggly, creamy, full of msg canned "soup". It's not that I don't like to cook easy stuff. It just tends to take a bit more prep time to cook a meal without that junk.  I stumbled across this ...

October 5, 2014 by Kristina Leave a Comment

Squash, squash and more squash! Its everywhere! In my garden, at the farmers market, on my mind :)! My husband hates most of it, except spaghetti squash (unfortunately) but I LOVE it! And it's super good for you!  At this exact moment I have a gluten free, soy free, dairy free, nut free pumpkin pie baking in the oven, acorn squash, butternut squash, banana squash and dumpling squash sliced awaiting the oven for my Apple Cider Glazed Pork Tenderloin with Roast Squash, and spaghetti squash left ...

End of the Garden Stuffed Yellow Squash (or Zucchini); Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free, Nut Free Recipe

September 11, 2014 by Kristina Leave a Comment

The end of the summer is growing near :( boo! I'm almost sick of yellow squash and zucchini - almost! When the end of the summer draws near vegetables in the garden start to produce less often and I tend to forget to harvest them regularly. This means that there will inevitably be a few zuchinni and summer squash that we'll forget to pick and will grow HUGE. What can you do with a giant zuchinni or yellow squash?  I'd imagine there are multiple things;  however, the skins get tougher and the ...

Classic Buttercream Icing, Frosting Icing (Without Shortening); Gluten Free, Soy Free, Nut Free, Egg Free Recipe (with option for Dairy Free & Vegan)

September 2, 2014 by Kristina 10 Comments

Yesterday I posted a recipe for an allergen free cake I made for my little one's cake smash photos. The cake (of course) is not complete without some frosting. Personally, I always hated the icing on cakes. I look back now and it is pretty gross with all of the hydrogenated oils :(. This frosting is SUPER rich, sweet, and delicious. I modified it slightly from a recipe by A Savory Sweet Life. It's made without shortening (hydrogenated oils) and only includes 4 ingredients. This frosting is ...

It’s cold and rainy in Michigan today and I’m wishing I had some homemade chicken broth ready for a soup like this one. This soup is naturally gluten free, dairy free, soy free, nut free, egg free and can be easily made vegan. It also could easily be made nightshade free with the elimination of…
